Getting to Siquijor from Dumaguete
Our adventure began early at 6:30 AM, with Kuya Celso, our guide, picking us up from our hotel in Dumaguete. A quick trip to Dumaguete Port followed, where we paid a ₱15 terminal fee before boarding the ferry. The 45-minute ride was smooth, filled with sea breezes and excitement. Upon arrival at Siquijor Port, we were greeted by Kuya Nonoy, our driver for the day, who whisked us away in a multicab—our trusty ride for the tour.
First Stop: The Iconic “Welcome to Siquijor” Sign & St. Francis de Assisi Church
No Siquijor trip is complete without a photo at the famous “Welcome to Siquijor” sign, right in front of the historic St. Francis de Assisi Church. Built in the 1700s, this coral-stone church is a stunning backdrop for your first island snapshots. Take a moment to explore its serene grounds before heading to the next stop.
Next Up: The “I Love Siquijor” Sign & Paliton Beach
Just a short ride away is the “I Love Siquijor” sign, a perfect spot for a quick photo with palm trees and ocean views. Then, we headed to Paliton Beach, often called the “Little Boracay of Siquijor”. With its powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters, it’s the perfect place to relax under coconut trees or take a refreshing dip.
Pitogo Cliff: A Scenic Coastal Viewpoint
For breathtaking ocean views, Pitogo Cliff is a must-visit. The rugged cliffs meet the turquoise waters, creating a dramatic landscape perfect for photos. Adventurous souls can even take a dip below—just be careful on the rocky path!
The Mystical 400-Year-Old Balete Tree & Fish Spa
One of Siquijor’s most unique stops is the 400-year-old Balete Tree, believed to hold spiritual energy. At its base is a natural fish spa—dip your feet in and let tiny fish nibble away dead skin! Nearby stalls sell herbal oils, love potions, and souvenirs made by local healers (mananambal).
Historic Stop: St. Isidore Church & Lazi Convent
In the quiet town of Lazi, we visited the St. Isidore Church, one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. Across the street stands the Lazi Convent, a massive Spanish-era structure that now houses a small museum. Walking through its wooden halls feels like stepping back in time.
Cambugahay Falls: The Ultimate Water Adventure
No Siquijor tour is complete without visiting Cambugahay Falls—a three-tiered waterfall with rope swings and bamboo rafts for endless fun! We also tried the “Fairy Walk” on the upper levels, adding a magical touch to our visit.
Final Stop: Sambulawan Underground River
To cap off our day, we explored the Sambulawan Underground River, a hidden cave with a serene spring inside. Guided by a local, we waded through cool waters—a peaceful yet adventurous way to end our tour.
Heading Back to Dumaguete
As the sun set, we boarded the ferry back to Dumaguete, reflecting on the magic, beauty, and adventure Siquijor had given us.
